ctmmweb: A Graphical User Interface for Autocorrelation‐Informed Home Range Estimation

Estimating animal home ranges is a primary purpose of collecting tracking data. Many widely used range estimators, including conventional kernel density assume independently-sampled In stark contrast, modern datasets are almost always strongly autocorrelated. The incongruence between estimator assumptions and empirical reality often leads to systematically underestimated ranges. Autocorrelated estimation (AKDE) directly models the observed autocorrelation structure data during estimation, has been shown perform accurately across broad datasets. However, compared AKDE requires additional modeling steps heretofore only accessible via command-line ctmm R package. Here, we introduce ctmmweb, which provides point-and-click graphical interface streamlines AKDE, its prerequisite steps, number movement analyses. We demonstrate ctmmweb's capabilities, subsequent overlap analysis, on dataset four jaguars from Brazilian Pantanal tracked 2013 2015. intend ctmmweb open related autocorrelation-explicit analyses wider audience wildlife conservation professionals. © 2021 Authors.
